How long before a board invite expires?

I've seen this question asked many times, but there hasn't been a definitive answer. How long before a Trello board invite link expires?
They do expire. I've had it happen many times, and have has to update the links. I haven't been able to discern any rhyme or reason as why or when they do.

Welcome to the Community, awesome to have you here joining the Trello family!

So, they actually do not expire. What might happen from time to time- and probably what gave you this impression - is that sometimes we change things in the background to make some tweaks and adjustments, and it might break old board invitation links. 

Also, if the board member loses their member permissions, any invitation links that they might have generated will stop working.
