Currently I have a remote team member on a Trello Team. When I assign the member to a card, he automatically gets access to all lists and cards on that board. In some boards, I only want him to be able to access a specific list within that board. On other boards, I only want him to be able to access a specific card within a specific list in that board. How do I achieve these two goals?
It seems a few users have requested a feature like this through different platforms & posts across the web, However, all solutions are pointing to Butler or some other app which does way more than this and charges for it.
To me, this is a simple and basic functionality which I'd expect to get free of charge if I'm paying for Trello power-ups.. It doesn't make sense to have to pay more in order to get this capability.

I work with 60 clients at a time and this is essential. I cannot manage 60 boards!

This is very sad - after spending hours creating a board only to find that this feature is not available and even though I add a member on certain cards/lists they actually see the whole board - disappointed - especially as this was raised years ago!!!

Wow, such a basic feature is not there? Does anyone know of rival software which does? This is such a key thing for me I'd leave Trello for a service that does.

Totally agree with you, Jay.
The great part about this comment, is that it really sums up exactly what I was looking for. Per list user access for Trello.

Hi Matt!
Unfortunately, this isn't a feature that Trello supports at this time. I highly suggest you email feature-ideas@trello.com and suggest this - you aren't the first to request it, and every single voice counts towards making features happen!
For now, I'd be happy to help you figure out a workaround. My suggestion would be to create a board specifically for this user. Then, you can use a tool like Butler for Trello (https://butlerfortrello.com/butlerbot.html) to keep your list and card in sync with those on your remote worker's board. Butler for Trello is a super neat tool that can really help automate your workflow.
Hope I've helped!

Butler looks very comprehensive. How on EARTH do I actually set this up? It sounds like the goal is to have lists/cards on multiple boards automatically copy and sync with a board for that one individual.

I'm seeing that this response was made since Feb 2018. Has Trello since made any updates to allow persons to access only specific cards on a Board?

I see this follow-up question was asked in Aug 2019. Has Trello since made it possible to hide a card or sub-item on a card for users who have access to the entire board?

Hi @Shreena Bindra ! No, Trello boards are still all or nothing.

Can you please give a little bit more of details of the workflow How would that work exactly?

Hello, it is Jan/14th/2021, and I also find that the option to have people accessing only the cards assigned to them in a Board is a must. It does not make sense to have one board per person.
Not always the projects with several members of the team do require that all members of the team know all the tasks that are going on and who is doing them.

Crazy - very disappointed - and only realised now after spending hours creating a board - mark me down as disappointed :(

This is the first thing I wanted to do when I finally tried Board.

Hey Elie, did you ever get your questions answered? I am having the very same request. Thank you.

No, I did not. Sorry.

As was written above you can easily do a nice and neat workaround using butler

I agree I want this for free but wud consider paying a minimal fee for this option, but its a deal breaker and after 2.5 years they still have not created the option
Did anyone find a better app that does this

Its obvious I want my branch company team to see all the cards in the board but I want a 'supplier' to only see the one card.

It's disappointing not to have a result for this query. It seems like such an obvious use for Trello boards. I don't want to end up with multiple 'one person' boards.

I emailed them and they didn't budge they say it's not something they will change...
I had to create a new board for each team leader in each branch rather than the branch with selected cards for the team leaders, now I can't see the whole branches activity at once and I only have 2 or 3 cards at a time in each team leaders board, it is a bit frustrating and when an outside volunteer adds other people they get to see the other 2cards which they have nothing to do with, I wonder if there is a better app

While there are certainly times I've wanted this feature, on the whole I am very glad that this ISN'T an option. IMO, it would undermine the core of what Trello is... the most transparent, collaborative PM tool on the market for Agile teams. If this was available, I think rampant misuse/overuse would be extremely detrimental to teams, and Trello itself.

Looks Like trello are making it easier for the Owner to see multiple boards on 1 page, I guess this is the best solution, just make sure you use Card templates coz setting up 80 boards for each team leader was a challenge without it
