How Can I Average Data from a Custom Field that I can Email? Can I connect SmartFields to Bulter?

Raegan Fordemwalt August 5, 2020

I'm looking to create a command that divides one custom field from another. I know you can average custom fields with the "Number Stats" power up, but that information does not leave the board and I can't automate emails for the stats.

I have two custom fields I want to divide. "Count" and "Total." Total tracks the number of cards with Count and Count is the total count of the number data on the board.

My team has tried smart fields but we can't find a way to automate the data that goes into the card, letting us find the average without having to put the data in manually (which is something we can't do).

Is there a way I can use Butler so it divides one custom field from another? Is there a way my team can connect Butler to SmartFields?

Thanks

Raegan

@Raegan Fordemwalt  This is a question about pluginData. As a general rule it is difficult to get access to pluginData. Sometimes you can’t. The last time I did investigate Smartfields, with some programming you can expose the fields stored on the card. For Maps, you can get the data if  when you use a webhook. For Custom fields, I think I found a way to do it in such a way that the number stat is a field available to Butler. I did not record a video for Smartfield but I did one for average on CF in Butler. https://youtu.be/YsOEdbsdgn0

@Raegan Fordemwalt Based on running a couple of tests with Number Stat installed and having created my own custom Power Ups, Number Stats probably kept the information as a board shared variable, so unless you know the key for each custom field, it will be familiarly difficult to get the data. The custom add-on I created allows you to retrieve stats on any CF and made them available to Butler as {httepresponse.key} where key can be count, sum, average, min and max. All keys are available at the same time.

Unfortunately, I have exceeded my free trial on Smartfields to be able to show you anything on it. My Butler quota has been exceeded as well but getting the httpresponse has been proven to work. See this demo in which I retrieved the next item on a checklist following completion of one before it. https://youtu.be/Lhl34MXpsxo
