Hi all,
We've implemented the google chat powerup and it works really well for the most part but we're facing one issue which may be how we've set our automations up.
We have a library of automations we've configured and one of our admin users will enable this on any new boards we create. The automation actions however in trello log originate from the automation user rather than the user interacting with the board at the time. i.e. if we have an automation that marks a task as "Complete" it shows the wrong user as it's actually the user interacting with the board that has done this so the resulting log (and chat) are nonsensical.
This produces a lot of confusion on the board. Any ideas on how to make this work without over complicating the automation library?
Thanks!
Hi Brodie,
Thanks for raising this up!
Since Automation rules are linked to user accounts under which they were created, there's no option to log them as performed by anyone else rather than the rule owner.
However, actions performed via card or board buttons are logged as performed by the user who clicked the respective buttons.
I’ll pass your interest in changing this behavior on to our team for consideration—let me know if there's any additional info you'd like for me to send their way.
If you are curious about how our team decides which requests we work on, we have published a blog post with detailed information on this process here: https://blog.trello.com/feature-requests-unite-support-and-product
