Hello,
We've been using this powerup for some time now, but today it stopped working suddenly. When I click on authorize button, It redirects me to a 404 page at github.
I've disabled the power-up, revoked the access from Github side as well, and started fresh again, but I'm still getting the 404.
This is the link it redirects me to:
https://github.com/login/oauth/authorize?response_type=code&client_id=9166c2b763b5af41364e&scope=repo%2Cread%3Aorg&state=&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.trello.services%2Fcallback

I'm logged in in Github, and not sure what's the issue.
Could you please help? (for now I'm linking the branches manually to tickets, but it's not scalable).
Thanks!

Edit: There's no fix yet (though it's been like this for several weeks), here is a link to the official Trello team bug:

This is still not working for me, and it’s so so so frustrating.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  1. Disabled and re-enabled the app, clicked on settings (which is 90% unresponsive), and attempted to edit settings—nothing happens. I get this error in the console: DirectoryPluginItemView.tsx:735 Failed to handle show-settings. {error: 'no plugin handles this command', id: '55a5d916446f517774210004'}
  2. Revoked access from GitHub and granted it again.
  3. Cleared all Trello-related cookies (including trello.services) in Chrome.
  4. Opened the app in incognito mode and went through the entire flow there.

None of these attempts even got me to the GitHub authorization flow. When the settings occasionally respond, I only see two options: "Edit Settings" or "Disable." The "Edit Settings" button doesn’t work at all.

This is beyond annoying, and if I can’t resolve this soon, we’re moving to Linear. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Same as well for our team

Alternative Solution

In the Trello card, go to the right-hand menu and select Attachment. Add the PR link there.

This is unacceptable. The GitHub Power-Up for Trello, which many teams rely on daily, is still not working.

The authorization process still leads to a 404 error, making the tool completely unusable.

We’ve tried all the usual fixes - disabling, reauthorizing, revoking access - but nothing works. Being forced to manually attach PRs to cards is very inefficient, frustrating, and unsustainable.

Trello is an expensive tool, and we expect reliability. If this isn’t fixed in the next few days, we’ll have no choice but to start migrating to other platforms that meet the expected service level.

This is still broken for me. It seems that Trello needs to request approval for our Github organization, and I cannot figure out how to do this from within Trello.

I have tried:

  • Clearing powerup settings and reinstalling, and re-authenticating.
  • Clearing my personal settings, and re-authenticating.
  • Removing browser cache, removing cookies and logging back in.
  • Adding cookie exceptions for trello.com, p.trellocdn.com, and github.trello.services domains.

In the JS console, the response error message in the from Github says:

> Although you appear to have the correct authorization credentials, the `REDACTED` organization has enabled OAuth App access restrictions, meaning that data access to third-parties is limited.

Based on Github's documentation in the article, Trello needs to send a "request" to Github to authorize for the organization. I see previous requests (some of them approved) for other OAuth apps, and those are working. I cannot figure out how to get Trello to issue such a request.

Has anyone else needed to do this? How did you get Trello to send such a request to Github?

For anyone else having this issue even after connecting to Github:

This looks like a quirk of the Github UI. In the OAuth popup the message has a little badge that says "Grant" next to your organizations, which suggested to me that authorizing would "Grant" these permissions. It looks like a badge but it is a button whose actual value is "Not Granted"!

You need to individually click "Grant" on each organization before accepting from the Trello pop-up.

If you do not do this, you will not see any "request" or an option to do this inside of your organization's settings on Github to fix this there (despite their documentation suggesting that).

Instead you will need to navigate (inside Github) to your personal settings:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Applications > Authorized OAuth Apps
  2. Select the "Trello GitHub Power-Up" OAuth App.
  3. Under "Organization Access", next to each organization you will see the same "Grant" badge (that is actually a button).
  4. Reload Trello, and you should see Github information from your organization's repos appearing. I did not need to reset my Github settings within Trello for this to apply, but YMMV.

I believe that the power-up was removed from the store, so it might no longer be maintained by the creators.

orehmane January 11, 2025

Seems more likely it was removed while it's being fixed, no?

Happening to me as well. What is going on with this power up? It seems to break in a new way every few weeks.
