Filter to exclude labels in Trello

In Trello, I can find plenty of ways to filter for cards that *have* a certain label - however, I have labelled a number of cards that rely on a specific piece of functionality and I would like to be able to *exclude* them from the view while I don't have that piece of functionality (without moving them all into a different list). Is there a way to do this?

i.e. a filter to HIDE all of LABEL A.

Thanks!

@Claire Durrant You need to use searching for this rather than filtering, you can add a minus sign to any search parameter to negate it:

Thanks for your response @Iain Dooley - but I'm not totally sure this is giving me what I'm after. I can search using the instruction, "-label:"LABEL A", but I only get a few cards in the type-ahead search and there's no way to update the board to show the matching cards (like you'd get if filtering to show 'LABEL X'). Ideally I'd like to work through my board, as normal, but without the distraction of the cards that have this label. It sounds like that may not be possible...

@Claire Durrant okay well in the "search cards" feature on the board (which used to be called filtering -- ie. as opposed to the "search all boards" feature in the top left) allows you to show cards with no labels.

If you show cards with no labels, then you can add more labels in, and you will see only cards with no labels, or those labels added in.

So if you had labels one, two and three, and you had cards with all 3 labels and cards with no labels, and you wanted to see all cards except those with label three, you could filter to show only cards with no labels, label one and label two. That would be displaying all cards except those with label three

I'm having a similar issue--I'd like to filter out items that are labeled as a specific thing.

For example,

I have a list of shows categorized using the label WATCH.

Items within WATCH are also labeled by streaming service. In this scenario I'd like to see items that fall within WATCH but are not NETFLIX

Has anyone found a solution to this?

You can use this bookmarklet https://saijogeorge.com/trello-filter-exclude-label/

It adds a popup where you can filter labels by color chrome_6y48UUmr6g.png
