I've been trying to get a due date set from card description by pulling the {datenumber} or {isodate} as the content of the card is being emailed to Trello.
I know this was a past feature of Butler because I have another board where a rule that I wrote works just fine, but I cannot edit that rule to work correctly on this new board. I've tried setting custom fields using wildcards and follow up actions to no avail.
It's key to have the due date for getting details of the card in the calendar view and I prefer to not manually enter every single instance that comes in.
@Jeremy Drey can you share the rule you've created so far? Is there any sort of consistent pattern around the email content that will allow butler to extract the due date? E.g. the date is always preceded by "DUE:", or the date format is always "dd/mm/yy.
Hey Hannah,
Each card name is coming in formatted as "Person's Name - hh:mm am/pm mm/dd/yy".
Here's a screenshot of my current attempt at the rule.

Sorry for the late response! A bit of a different approach...maybe try the below?
I couldn't see a simple rule that just says: "when I enter a card name containing a date, set custom date field"
If it's helpful, you can add to the rule to clear the date from the card title.
Also, you may want to switch it from "when I enter a card name..." to "when anyone enters a card name..."
I haven't tested it with the way you're formatting your card titles, but I don't see why it shouldn't work!

@Hannah Humbert - Simpla Workflows I just revisited this old rule (written before Trello bought Butler) and I can get that to work by modifying the order of information in the card name (email subject).
I agree, that there should be a simple rule that sets a custom date field.

@Jeremy Drey Glad you were able to get that to work by modifying the card title format. Hopefully, that works for you using the due date field instead, but as you can see in my previous post, you can copy that date to a custom field if that's helpful.
