We need to be able to send an email to 1 email address when any board card is updated, completed, checklist, attachment added, anything is done to a card?  We need to include a unique id in it so we can link it to our other software.  Like a serial number or some back end id for each card that is unique to it.  I assume there is something that Trelo has that identifies that?

Also, we have a custom field that we would like to pass in this email, do you know how to pass a custom field?

Hey @Sam Boyer

Using a Custom Field is definitely your best bet for referencing that unique ID. The challenge however is getting that data into an email.

Currently, there won't be a way to include that ID in a native Trello notification email. So instead I'd recommend using either Butler or Zapier to pass that along.

With Butler, you can set up rules to watch for a specific action to occur on a card, which would in turn send an email notification including the custom field. Here's an example of how that would look using a Custom Field Variable:

The caveat is that you would need a rule to cover each action that occurs on those cards.

Alternatively, you could explore setting up a zap that would watch for any changes made to a card on your board then send an email with that card's relevant Custom Field data.

Feel free to explore both of those options. Hopefully that will help!
