Does it mean the Board is Public when it shows 'template is Public'

Chichi August 14, 2022

When creating a Board using an already existing template in Trello, there is a section that says 'The template is Public' What does this mean.

I have set the Board to Private, Does template being public mean the contents of the Board are public as well?

Hi Chichi,

Welcome to the community!

When you create a template board, you can set different types of visibility, the same ones you would use when setting the visibility of a regular board. For example, suppose you've created your template board and set it to the visibility Public. In that case, anyone on the internet can view your template using the share link. However, if you set them to Private, only members you have invited to the template will be able to view and reuse them as a framework for their own boards.

And when you're creating a board using the template, you can set its visibility to one of the following (I've briefly talked about two of them previously):

  • Private
  • Public
  • Workspace Visible
  • Organization (Enterprise subscription only)

You can read more about Templates and how they work here.
