Descriptions disappear when attempting to edit them

Hi Trello Experts,

If I enter content into the Description field and hit Save, it appears the content has been saved as expected (whether using markdown or not).

When I go to edit that same Description, the field appears blank like no text was ever entered in the first place.

If I click away from the field, the originally entered text, re-appears.

This never happened in the years I'm using Trello and as of yesterday it has become a behavior that doesn't want to go away.

Thank you in advance for any advice or troubleshooting you can recommend.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for reaching out about this - that certainly is strange! We're doing some work on the editor area at the moment, so I'm going to pass the onto our team to see what might be causing this inconsistency for you.

The good news is that the content itself isn't lost. One thing that should fix this immediately is to switch to our new version of the description editor. Could you go to trello.com/my/labs and flip the switch for the new WYSIWYG editor? Once that's done, go back to the board and refresh the page, then open a card and see if you can see the description as you expect!

Thanks,

Ryan

Estava com o mesmo problema. Funcionou pra mim! Obrigado Eric ;)

You are welcome, Nelio :)

Ryan, this does seem to solve the problem. I did isolate the problem at my end and it had to do with the Planyway for Trello browser extension. When I turned it off, the Description text remained visible while in edit mode.

I am happy to report that this new formatting feature solves the problem even when I turn Planyway back on. Yay!

And, it's a relief to see that all the markdown code I've entered in the past will continue to yield displays that remain intact. Double yay!

Hi @Eric Rosen

The Planyway extension for Chrome was the one to blame in this case, we're sorry for the inconvenience.

The version with the fix is currently under the Chrome store's review, and we hope it'll be in place starting from tomorrow.

I can see that you were saying that re-installing Planyway has helped with your issue. In case you noticed later that it didn't, I just wanted you to know that the fix is on the way.

I'll update the reply once the new version of the extension is out there.

@Eric Rosen

Good news! The updated Planyway extension for Chrome has passed Google's review and was submitted to the Chrome Store.

You can re-install the extension if it was removed, otherwise, the page refresh would suffice. Let me know in case the problem persists.
