Why do these fields not appear on the calendar? so then we have to duplicate them again in the second area to then be diarised on our trello calendar? shouldn't have to put dates in twice? It's extra work thanks
Interesting example.
My interpretation of the best use of custom date fields are to store static date information, like if you had a board with your employees information in, you would use one for Date of Birth, or if you had a new client, you would use a custom date field for the date they signed up etc. etc.
You could use an automation to set those dates in the checklist items based on the custom fields, its a little clunky but it works:
when custom field "1st Day of Build" is set, check item "{customfieldname}", uncheck item "{customfieldname}", and set the item due on the date in custom field "1st Day of Build"
Copy the automation for each custom date field
Note: This requires the checklist item name to exactly match the custom field name
This is a good idea too - as then those checklist items would show up in the calendar! I like this better than my solution 😂

Checklist items should appear in the Calendar Views, at least on a board, i can't remember if they do in the Workspace Calendar views, but they should in the Board Calendar Views.
As far as Custom Fields, those don't appear in the board calendar views, i think because in a situation like with your card, it will be difficult to tie a single to so many dates and might be confusing.
You could set up some automation rules to have the due date update to the value of a custom field. Hard to say exactly the rule you'd want without seeing how you're using it, and what you're envisioning your calendar to look like. You may also want to use start and due dates (like for 1st and last day of build). Perhaps when you complete a due date on a card (for last day of build), it will then set the new card due date to be the value of Show finish Custom Field date.
