I'm looking to create a card from a checklist (via the 'convert to card' button) and have the same labels from the initial card be automatically applied. Is there any feature or automation that allows this?
Hey @Genevieve Leary - unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a trigger for 'when a checklist item is converted into a card' to create this automation, so I don't think it's possible! I'll double check and see if any of my team can think of ways to do this, but I'll raise a feature request internally for us to add such a trigger to our automation.
Hey @Genevieve Leary – As Alex mentioned, we don't have a Butler trigger that would convert your checklist items to a card and keep their labels from the original card to the new card created from the checklist.
In these cases, you have to have a trigger that will trigger the action you want (e.g., "When the red label MyLabel label is added to a card") that will execute the action you wish to, for example, converting the items of your checklist into cards and keeping the labels from the original card. Here's a simple rule that I came up with that does what you're looking for:
when the green "Label1" label is added to a card, convert all the items in checklist "MyCheckList" into cards copying labels
And from here, you can continue exploring other options with Butler, but keep in mind that you MUST have a trigger on Butler to execute any action on your board. I hope that helps!

Hi @Salomao Rosa & @Alex Waite ,
Thank you so much for your help and guidance!
For context, I am creating cards for different categories, each with a Checklist labelled 'to-do list' inside the card. I convert each 'to-do list' check item to a card and move it to a doing list when I am starting to work on that action. As I am not able to be working through all to-do list items from a card at once, the feature of converting all checklist items to cards wouldn't be useful in this situation.
It is quite simple for me to convert a to-do list checklist item to a card and apply labels manually, so not to worry! However, if any automations which would be helpful for this do come available, please let me know.
Many thanks,
Gen

Hey Gen,
There's a way you can convert the items of your checklist to new cards and make the new cards created from these items inherit the labels and members of the original card. You can either create a Butler rule – which requires a trigger to work – or create a card button – which doesn't need a trigger to work –.
But I'm afraid you can't select which item you want to convert to a new card. Instead, you can either convert all the items, all the completed items, or all the incomplete items to a new card. For example, I created a simple card button that will convert all complete items in my checklist into cards, as shown below:
convert all the complete items in checklist "MyCheckList" into cards copying labels and members
Alternatively, what you could try and see if that would work for you, is creating multiple card buttons for each one of the scenarios you wish to cover on your board. For instance, let's say you have a card with a checklist "To-Do list" with five items. And you want to start working on the first two items of the checklist, and you want to convert them into cards. One of the alternatives would be to check the first two items and execute a card button containing a rule that converts all the complete items in a checklist to cards. Or perhaps you want to work from the third item onwards, and then you could check the first two items and execute a card button containing a rule that converts all the incomplete items to cards.
I reckon it sounds a bit confusing having to go through this process to convert the items of a checklist to a card, but it's something you could explore. In the meantime, we will continue checking with our team about adding such an option on Butler to select which items you want to convert to cards instead of all items.

Thanks @Salomao Rosa this is super useful information! At this stage I'll stick with manually adding the labels as I'm likely do only be 'doing' 1 checklist item from any given card at a time. If anything is developed in future please do let me know.
Thanks to both of you for your fantastic service! @Salomao Rosa @Alex Waite
