Creating a template, how can include Butler rules?

I've created a board and I'm at the point where I would like to share it but it relies heavily on the automation rules created by Butler.  Creating a template doesn't seem to carry over the rules, is this intended?

Is there another way I can share the details of the board?

Thank you

Hey @Ken Lambert

Right now, it is expected that rules will not carry over to other boards.

At a high level, there's a lot of hesitation in allowing rules to automatically be enabled because there's a high risk of unintended consequences.

For now, there's a way you can at least speed up the process of enabling them on any copies.

What you'll want to do is add all the commands you want enabled to a Command Library. Once added and you copy that template board, you can open your command libraries and click the check mark next to that one to enable all the rules in it.

Not quite the same as being automatically enabled, but will hopefully still help!

Would this work for a template I want to publically share?  or rules or even Command Libraries are limited to the user?

So reading up on the Command Libraries article you linked, the answer is still kinda vague.  Sharing a command set would only be available to members of my Trello Business Class Workspace that the board is linked to.  So my hopeful template can only be used by Business class users at the very least, but it doesn't actually say that this would include a "public" template.

Right now, I'm afraid that wouldn't work, Ken. Sharing of commands is limited to those being added to a library, which would indeed limit that to Workspace members who can see the library.

For some context, the team is already working on improvements to Butler's sharing capabilities, but I can't give any specifics on that right now. Ideally though, we'll be making it easier to share commands publicly for the purpose of template boards like your's.

For now, I know it's not the most ideal option, but I'd suggest copying or screenshotting the rules and adding those to a card in the template. Essentially as instructions for any person who copies it, so they can get Butler going as well.

If you have any feedback about sharing, as in how you'd like that to look, let me know and I can share that with the team.

Thank you for the clarification, Garrett.
