Confused on what Butler to use

kellewic February 20, 2021

So on my board there is a Butler button (over on the upper right) but there is also https://butlerfortrello.com/ which looks to have way more functionality than available through clicking the button on the board. Are these both the same thing just different interfaces? If so, why the different interfaces?

@kellewic butlerfortrello.com is the old Butler Bot. Ludable (the software company that created Butler Bot) converted Butler Bot into the Butler Power Up and then Trello acquired them and integrated Butler as a core feature of the platform.

The advantage is that Butler is now much more "no code" than the old Butler Bot.

The disadvantage is that (as with other "no code" platforms) you can't do as much with it.

I created Trellinator to fill the gap:

I find myself using both. For the more complex functions, I will use the Butlerbot for testing, Once the command seems to be working properly you can use the command importer on the power up to add the rule. I have to create the command on the only board that has access to the butler bot then import into power up and share, (use command library function), to transfer to the board where I need them. Create a copy of the text before importing as the importer will eat it when it imports.
