Hi! I am about an hour into Trello and want to figure out how to repeat tasks. I enabled the Repeater, but when I added it, the "Save" button was not operational ( I wasn't able to click on it. Then I tried clickingn "Repeat" on the Board and it says "It Looks Like Something Went Wrong. So I looked that up and they said try it in a different browser, so I did that. Then I restarted, but nothing changed. Please help if you can. I want to use Trello for my business, but don't understand why I can't get this seemingly simple task. And it could absolutely be "user error." Thank you!!
@Julia Fister and @Jonathan Pate welcome to the community! Did you have specific days checked? If you don't select specific days the "save" button won't be enabled.
I just tried it and looks like its working at the moment, but perhaps it was down earlier? I think I saw some notification about Trello being down/boards being unavailable for some users earlier. Let me know if it's still not working.
Also, I personally prefer to use Butler/Trello automation for repeating cards. I feel like it gives me a little more control over it and I can adjust the rule more easily and customize what the card should look like!
If you want to do card repeating in Butler, just head to Automation (top menu of your board) --> Rules --> Calendar (on the left side menu) --> Create Command (blue button in top right).
From there, set your trigger, by clicking "add trigger". This is the frequency you want the card to show up (every day? ever work day? every Wednesday?)
Click the blue plus button to add it, and then select the Add Card option. You can specify which list you want it to be created in, any checklists dates, or labels you want it to have, etc.
Let me know if that helps!
Thank you, that helps! It did fix itself, it might have been part of the bug yesterday!

I was looking for the same issue. I did your steps above and see it on my board now but, only for Monday and do not see it on the Calendar either?
I want to see daily as I do on my google calendar where I can duplicate.
example: Same task every day at 8:30am and actually see it in order to not schedule anything else and have time blocked.

I am having the same issue as others. The card repeater doesn't work (won't save) and the automation area doesn't have an option for calendar. Please help.

@Christine Scivicque check the "Scheduled" section of the Automation section in Trello. There are triggers for every day, week, or selecting multiple days (the second trigger option)

@Brittany Joiner i have to say, this is super helpful - i dooooooo have a question about this process though.
When you create a card to be recurring - is it like a dry erase board where it wipes everything out and starts over or is it more like a copy machine where you make a copy, use it, file it, and print a new one for the next week?
I'm asking because I need to store the steps from the card that is to repeated. I'm assuming we can do something in butler to do this - maybe add the date to the card title or something?
Your feedback, insight and direction would be greatly appreciated.

@John Chambers hey there! So it depends which action you use in the automation - you can use "create a new card" or you can use the move/copy a card action.
I typically use the create a new card action and then just specify all the steps I want in it, because you can set the description, labels, due dates, card name, etc. (You could easily add the date to the card name with Butler Variables.) And the you can string on more actions after, like adding a checklist(s), so you can really make a clean new card, but it still have everything you need in it!
Let me know if that helps!

Thank you @Brittany Joiner ! lt helped me to solve the problem too ! l created automated tasks with recurrency, instead of doing it with "repeater" which was absolutely not working (buttons freezing, can't edit, can't delete, at best only can uninstall the power up to solve it..). Then lot of answers on google are sending to Butler and l was mixing all the things and was lost, now it's clear with Automation :-) Thank you !

@François Gendre yay! im glad it helped! and yeah if you're curious - the context is that Trello's automation suite used to be a power-up called ButlerBot, then got shortened to Butler, then got acquired by Trello/Atlassian, and they took a while to change the official name to "Automation", so when you see "butler" it means automation. Very confusing though, i know 😂

Hey y'all - i know it's been a minute - forgive my delay. While everyone has probably already resolved this issue, for those who have in the future I wanted to add some insight.
I set up a card for weekly, monthly and quarterly checklists and this is the process it goes through.
I created the initial checklist, for explanation will speak to the Weekly Checklist. Then I created a rule that when said checklist is completed it gets moved from the Weekly To Do List to the Done column on our board.
Then used the scheduled automation feature in Trello to make it repeat every Monday by adding a new card back to our Weekly To Do List.
Now i DID add the Card Repeater Power Up and it will let you schedule a card to repeat and while it shows as an active Power Up the scheduler did just fine.
Here is a screenshot of one of the checklist that repeats weekly.
I hope this helps a little.
(even though i just repeated what @Brittany Joiner said) ;-)
