My company is looking at how to use trello with the change in free workspace and they want to limit costs. Some smaller groups may peel off and stay free and others will go to standard or premium. Question: If I'm a member on free board number 1, can I also be a member of free board number 2? likewise, can I be a member of Standard board 1 and Standard board 2? Thanks |
Hi @gluejosh
In the Free version, you can have up to 10 collaborators - who can be a single or multi-board guest, workspace member, or a pending invitation.
That means the 10 users can have one or many boards they access, all within the free pricing tier.

Paid plans operate slightly differently.
You will pay per Workspace Member, or for any guest who has access to 2+ boards (i.e a multi-board guest).
However, any guest with access to only one single board will remain free.
You can see more on how this works here...

Hi Stephen,
Thanks so much for your clarification on that. If you don't mind another question: does billing start from member 1 or member 11, with the first 10 being free?

Oh, and if the single board members are free, are they limited to 10 per board?
Eg if i have a membership like the one below, would the company only have to pay for the manager, the admin and the coordinator (who are managing several teams on different boards) but not the members of the boards who are single-board guests?
gluejosh's Workspace
Mrs Manager
Mr Admin
Mr Coordinator
Team 1 Board
Member 1
Member 2
Member 3
Member 4
Member 5
Member 6
Member 7
Member 8
Member 9
Member 10
Member 11
Thanks again

Hi @gluejosh
The Free pricing tier is separate to Standard/Premium - so if you move to a paid plan, you're billed from member 1 (rather than having "10 free")
There is no set limit for the number of single-board guests per board as far as I know, you should be able to add as many as Trello will allow (certainly a lot more than 10).
So your setup should work, Members 1-11 would be single-board guests, and thus free of charge :)

No problem :)
If this answer helped, could you accept it? That helps others in future know it can help them too!
