Is it possible to automate recurring tasks in Trello? I want to set up tasks that reappear on a schedule, such as daily, weekly, or monthly (Read More). How can I achieve this using Trello’s built-in features or Power-Ups like Butler? Are there specific steps or configurations I should follow, and are there any limitations or alternatives I should consider for recurring automation?

Yes, you can automate recurring tasks in Trello using its built-in automation tool, Butler, or through third-party Power-Ups. Here's how you can achieve this, along with steps and considerations:

Using Trello’s Butler Automation for Recurring Tasks

Butler is Trello’s native automation tool, and it allows you to set up scheduled tasks with ease.

  1. Enable Butler:

    • Navigate to the board where you want to automate tasks.
    • Click on "Automation" in the top menu bar and open pocket the Butler dashboard.
  2. Create a Recurring Task Rule:

    • Go to the Calendar tab in the Butler dashboard.
    • Click Create Command and choose a schedule (e.g., daily, weekly, or monthly).
    • Define the action, such as:
      • Create a new card: Specify the list and card details (e.g., "Daily Report" in the "To-Do" list).
      • Move a card: Reopen an existing task by moving it back to a specific list.
  3. Configure the Details:

    • Name the automation rule clearly for easy identification (e.g., "Weekly Report Task").
    • Set the schedule time for task creation or recurrence.
  4. Save and Activate:

    • Save the rule and ensure it’s active. Butler will now create .

Hi @Patriot Lighting

Welcome to the Community & thank you for your question.

On your right-hand top corner you should see the button for Automations (it's a flash icon). Please click on it and proceed to "Rules". A new menu should have opened now. You can select "Scheduled" and create a new, scheduled automation from here. I hope this helps!

Please keep in mind that depending on your Trello Subscription, you have a limited number of automations per month.

Best wishes,
Mara
