Butler - Merging 2 cards with checklists

eric_bouchet February 4, 2022

I have 2 cards that I want to merge, that contain multiple checklists.

Let's call them card 1 and card 2. card 2 will receive final content.

card 1 has multiple checklists.

Cards are linked. I use a simple card button on card 1 :

for each card linked in the attachments, set the card's description to "{triggercarddescription} {carddescription}", and add the "{*}" checklist from card "{triggercardlink}" to the card
The issue is that the {*} checklist only picks the first checklist from card 1.
How do I access the other checklists in card 1 for them to be copied to card 2 ?
Thanks in advance

Hi Eric,

Unfortunately this is not something you can fully automate for now. As the name of the action indicates, add the {*} checklist will only pick one checklist, not multiple ones.

I would suggest to add the Checklist names individually as separate actions, such as add the "{Checklist_1}" checklist from card "{triggercardlink}" and add the "{Checklist_2}" checklist from card "{triggercardlink}", etc.

Since it will not be fully automated, the way to do it outside Butler is to add each checklist from Card 1 on Card 2 by creating a new checklist on Card2 and use the "copy items from..." dropdown.

Hope this helps !

This is ridiculous. Where is the tried and true copy/paste?
