Board Member vs Team Member

Sylvia Prameswara September 10, 2020

Hi guys,

Can someone please explain why I would need to become a Board Member if I'm already a Team Member?

Thanks,

Sylvia

  • Board Members  - A 'Normal' member is simply a member of a board. Normal members can edit or add to the board without restrictions.
  • Team Members - You can make a board belong to a team, so a team member is a user who belongs to the same team as the board.

https://help.trello.com/article/791-changing-permissions-on-a-board#:~:text=Team%20Members%20%2D%20You%20can%20make,that%20the%20boards%20belongs%20to.

If the boards permissions (commenting) do not allow team members the same access as a board member then you would need to be a board member in addition to a team member.

Hi Brant,

NOTE: If a board belongs to a team, you can enable the setting " Allow Team Members to Join," which will allow any team member to join the board without being invited. To enable this, the board must belong to a team and the board cannot be private.

We have enabled that setting but still our team members are not able to see the shared board.

Thoughts?

Thanks
