Backing up or exporting content and files from Trello

Hello,

We are using Trello as our primary departmental project management tool in a busy, university marketing department. We have print and digital projects and have been uploading our design elements and files to cards.

The other day someone in the department asked us where all those files are stored and how secure they are. I gave them my finest deer-in-the-headlights look.

So where are the files stored? What would happen to the files (crossing all crossables that this never happens) if Trello went away? Should we be saving these files elsewhere? Can we download our information from Trello somehow?

Any insight and assistance would be greatly appreciatted.

Thanks!

@Andrea Thompson for data storage and security, this page might be helpful!

All user content is stored within US regions of AWS. Trello’s production environment is hosted on an AWS EC2 platform. User content can also be found in Trello backups, stored in AWS EC2, S3, and Glacier.

@Andrea Thompson welcome to the community!! so i can't actually answer the question about where they're stored... I'm not entirely sure haha. @Alex _ Trello might have an idea?

But as far as backing up, you can use the Backups for Trello Power-Up, which is built by Rewind and backs up all your content on their servers! It's actually a really nice power-up because although Trello is very secure and you're very unlikely to wake up and Trello be gone, sometimes you might have people make changes in your board inadvertently and if you don't know what's been done but you just know it's not right, you can "rewind" to a previous date in your Trello boards. Basically a big undo but for any Trell-uh-ohs!

Oooo, a rewind sounds great! Thanks so much for the quick response, too!

Definitely going to look into that Power-Up!

Thank you so much!

Sorry for not answering everyone! @Monique vdB nailed it above re: where Trello data is stored.

Is there another version of Trello that does a full backup?
