Automatic saving of description when card is closed?

Hi,

When using Trello in a browser on PC, I find that to save changes to the description I have to explicitly click the save button. It seems counter-intuitive when other fields are automatically saved on exiting the card. Furthermore, it is possible to close the card without saving and there is then no indication to show that the card has unsaved information... On the iOS app, which I also use, I can change the description but to exit the card I have to tap ‘done’ which saves the card (or cancel the action) in order to then exit the card.

Is there a good specific reason for this behaviour on the browser of not saving automatically when the card is closed? If not, please can I make the suggestion (along with many others) that an option is added for either i) saving the card automatically on exit, or ii) making it impossible to close the card without saving it.

Cheers, Geoff

Hi Geoff,

Thank you so much for the feedback!

I've tested this behavior on my end and I agree that it would be ideal to Trello either give you a warning that the description is not saved when you closed it - even if that information keeps saved on your browser cache, or doesn't allow you to close the card until it was saved or discarded.

But this is in fact a great suggestion, and with that in mind, I have gone ahead and created a new feature request for you with our product team which you can access here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/TRELLO-TRELLO-680

I have also added this thread as an internal comment to this report so that way our engineering team can reference to it and also use it to help align priority. I would also recommend you to visit that suggestion, log in with your Atlassian account, and click *Start watching this issue* on the right panel. This will help our product and engineering team understand more about which functionalities our users are interested in. Also, when the ticket is updated by our product team, you'll be notified via email.

You can learn more about this by reading our Implementation of New Features Policy:
[New Features Policy|https://confluence.atlassian.com/support/implementation-of-new-features-policy-201294576.html].

If you have any questions about this suggestion, any additional information you would like to share, or any comments on our new features policy, please let us know!

I'm very happy with this feature. It has been a constant headache to me when I go in several days later wondering why my team didn't do something, only to find out it was never saved. Very excited for this feature!
