I am looking to automate a card checklist due dates based on the progression of the check list.
Example
Item 1 marked completed sets a due date for item 2 in days from this completion
Item 2 marked complete sets a due date for item 3 in days from this completion
We have a check list that multiple employees are responsible for different parts of. The employees responsible for item 3 can not complete their task till item 2 and 1 have been completed. I would like a due date for each sequential task to be set by the prior task. This would save tons of time not having to manually assign due dates to each checklist item.
thanks
Frankie
Hi @Frankie G - Welcome to the Trello Community! Right now Trello's Automation functionality doesn't cover the specific workflow you're describing. The Automation tool isn't able to set a due date to existing checklist items that isn't the item which triggered the command.
As a workaround you can create the checklist next items as part of your Automation eg:
- When item 1 is marked as complete, add item 2 to checklist, set the due date to 2 days from now.
Since this creates a new item and doesn't modify existing checklist items there'll be an option to set the due date on the item. For now I've let our Product teams know that being able to set due dates on existing checklist items is something you're interested in.
Let us know how that goes!
