Archive lists that do not include certain terms in the names

Victoria W May 24, 2024
On a board I use there are some lists we need to keep all the time, and then others we archive daily (setting up new ones in their place).
I'd like to automate archiving the lists with a scheduled rule. Is it possible to set up an automation to archive every list in the board where its name doesn't match "Name A" and "Name B" (for example)?
I checked the wildcard reference (https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/pattern-matching-and-wildcards/) and it gives a lot of details about matching, but I couldn't find anything about excluding.
I also read that regex can be used within Trello's automation. Using standard regex I can exclude certain names with a rule like this:
^(?!.*Name A|.*Name B).*$
But I can't seem to get that regex to work in the Trello rules.
How can I get this to work?

Hi Victoria,

Thanks for reaching out!

While you can use regex in Trello automation, right now there isn't an action to archive multiple lists on the board. You would need to set up individual actions and specify the list name.

I definitely understand how this could be helpful, so I've flagged this as a feature request with the product team. Would you mind expanding a little more on your use case here? Any additional context you can add would really help! I'll be passing your feedback on to our product team, and want to ensure we've captured your use case.

All the best,
