(If so, I think our teams will move away from Trello. I don't know who the new editor is designed for, but it doesn't appear to be made for devs and ops who are familiar with markdown, or even frequently use /path/to/thing.)
@CaityWhat's driving the decision to remove the Markdown editor? Clearly a lot of users are very unhappy about it (I'm sure this thread is the tinniest tip of a much larger iceberg).
Simply put: wrong decision. Thank you for about 10+ years of a great tool in professional and private life.
Trello has veen very helpful for my customers as an entrance into project management and building a knowledge database.
But i stopped recommending it for a year now, since i cant get used to clicking around and not be able to edit messed up line space, bullet points and links.
Another great tool has been productised into mediocrity. No explanation has been offered for removing a feature that seems easier to maintain, suitable for a chunk of the customer base and completely orthogonal to this new editor. Hard to follow the logic.
When it became clear that markdown was being removed I stopped using Trello altogether. Such a pity as I used to relentlessly promote it. There's nothing as good - although Restyaboard is impressive.
Good luck in the future. I sincerely hope to hear one day that the decision to abandon Markdown is reversed.
A lot of people are talking about leaving trello, I'm too contemplating and had a look around. I was interested to see that there's even a self-hosted open source clone of trello (Wekan).
Please please please give us back the option to disable rich text formatting - our staff can't copy and paste info in and out of Trello cards efficiently because the "enter" key starts a new paragraph here, and everything is terribly spaced out. We really need this to have the plain text option, it's incredibly uneconomical use of time. Please give us the option to turn it off!
I wouldn't mind quite so much if the new editor didn't mangle the conversion and then not copy and paste between sections of a Description without mangling things.
Try typing:
dash space star - repeat five times (can't post it, it's being sanitised)
Someone suggested using just text files, directories and a syncing tool (eg. Git) as a Kanban board. If Trello becomes intolerable, I'll give that a try.
