needing help with unlocked android tablet device

Yes i have a newer android 10.1 tablet, that is fully unlocked, i could really use some advise on the best software build version, so on and so forth, if anyone here could give me a hand, it's running on android 10 version but i cant get it to update past that, so could use some help in that area as well,  but it's free for me to add or do any kind of modifications to it i desire, im just honestly not sure what steps to take in starting the process so i dont end up just bricking the device all together..... hope to get some replies, with some good pointers or maybe someone who's got some time to possibly coach me through some steps,  THANKS!!!!
