Hi @Vivek Chauhan ,

in order to become an Atlassian Certified Expert, there are more path that you can follow.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for reply :

It say following. This means I need to have 4 certifications in total. Is my understanding correct.

I already have ACP-MJCP and i am planning ACP-JCA and ACP-MJSP.

Path A: One Jira Administrator Certification

Hold one of the following:

Hold one of the following:

Hold any two of these three:

  1. EITHER: ACP-JSD Atlassian Certified Jira Service Desk Administrator* OR ACP-MJSP Atlassian Certified Jira Service Project Manager for Cloud

  2. EITHER: ACP-CA Atlassian Certified Confluence Administrator for Data Center and Server* OR APB-CSA Confluence Space Administration Pro Skills Badge

  3. ACP-SA Atlassian Certified System Administrator*

Hi @Vivek Chauhan

You have a good plan.  You will also need the APB-CSA: Confluence Space Administrator Pro-Badge as the final requirement to achieve your goal!

Hi @Jimmy Seddon ,

Just to confirm basically Path A = 3 Exams + 1 Pro-Badge for Confluence?

I ask as at first I thought we just needed 2 exams + 1 Pro-Badge. Maybe that was the older requirements.

Thanks,

Lenny

Hi @Lenny Whitehead,

With a number of the exam being retired, the requirements have changed a bit.  But as it's listed above, you will need 3 certifications + 1 Pro-Badge.  I have written it this way because I want to be sure that you are aware that the Pro-Badge is also a proctored exam the same as the certification exams, it doesn't have quite as many questions though.

I hope that helps!

-Jimmy

Hi @Jimmy Seddon ,

What are the new requirements to become an Atlassian Certified Expert for Data Center? As you noted, 2 of the 5 exams are retiring but it still says you need 4 out of 5 in all paths on https://university.atlassian.com/student/activity/844004-atlassian-certified-expert.

If we earn the ACP-610, ACP-100, and APB-220, then would we be considered Experts? If not, what can the new 4th one be that's for Data Center, not Cloud?

Thanks,

Alexa

Hi @Alexa!

Unfortunately, the Atlassian University Team has not releases a DC equivalent to ACP-420: Managing Jira Service Projects for Cloud.

At this time getting that Cloud certification would be your only option, or waiting until a DC certification for that has been made available.

How long did it take to become Atlassian Certified Expert? I understand there are several exams which need to be taken. I'm looking for perspective from those successfully completed one of the two paths.

Hi @thob,

I have successfully complete all of the Cloud path and half of the Server/DC path (my company moved to Cloud which changed my exam focus).

I'm going to answer it from my personal experience.

I didn't start taking any of the exams until I had about 6 years of Jira Admin experience in my job.  The first one I was at an in person training class and then I studied on my own for about a week before tasking the exam and passing on the first attempt.

The next couple of exams I did about a month apart with about 2 1/2 weeks of on my own study time and a week off in between to rest up.

The last couple I needed to wait until Atlassian released them but same thing.  About 2 - 2 1/2 weeks of at my own pace studying and then wrote the exam.  Passed all of them on the first attempt.

Now, I had a lot of hands on experience to work with before I started writing any or the exam which I think gave me an advantage and these exams were by no means easy even with my experience.

However, depending on how much time you can devote to studying for each exam and how much rest time you want/need in between each, you could be done in as quickly as a few weeks or months.  If you need more time it could take up to a year or longer.

I hope that helps!

Thanks for sharing your experience @Jimmy Seddon I didn't think about taking into account Atlassian release schedule.

@Alexa , your other option is to earn 2 Jira Admin certifications: 1 for DC and 1 for Cloud.

As follows:

ACP-JA

ACP-JCA

ACP-MJDP

APB-CA

See https://university.atlassian.com/student/activity/844004-atlassian-certified-expert.

Thanks, @Julia! We are trying to keep it Data Center-specific but based on your feedback and Jimmy's, it seems like we'll have to earn a Cloud one no matter what. If a Data Center equivalent becomes available, please update https://university.atlassian.com/student/activity/844004-atlassian-certified-expert when you can. I appreciate the follow-up and quick response!
