Atlassian Certified Expert Deepanshu Natani shares the motivation behind his certification journey

Read on to uncover how one Atlassian Certified Expert went from zero Atlassian Certifications in 2020 to Atlassian Certified Expert—holding every Atlassian Certification actively available—as of February 2022.

Meet @Deepanshu Natani 🎉 

A Community Leader and Atlassian Certified Expert, Deepanshu shares below what it looks like to be learning as an Atlassian Community Leader, how he prepared for every Atlassian certification test, and his tips for those pursuing certification.

Hi Deepanshu! Tell us about yourself and your current role.

I am working as a Senior Atlassian Consultant at Modus Create. I help organizations in their Agile, ITSM or Digital transformation Journey and also with setting up Atlassian Tools and processes.

My hobbies include hosting Atlassian Community events, posting articles and answers on Atlassian Community, growing plants (I have more than 900 live plants in my home) and playing with my daughter Ruhi (she is almost 2 years old now and has attended Atlassian Community events and meetings many times).

Why did you decide to pursue Atlassian certification?

Until November 2020, I didn’t have any Atlassian Certification. I used to wonder what’s the use of getting a certificate. But when I joined Modus Create, which is an Atlassian Platinum solutions partner, it was required to get a couple of Atlassian Certifications.

So I started studying for ACP-600. During the preparation phase, I was also able to validate my knowledge and expertise with the tool. I got to learn about features and functionalities which I had never used before like Control charts, cumulative flow diagrams, etc. It’s only when I started preparing for certification that I got to know about these features in detail—and now I regularly use them and suggest them to our customers.

The opportunity to learn about new functionalities and new ways to use Atlassian tools, and also to grow insights about functionality I already knew, made me pursue more Atlassian Certifications.

How did you motivate yourself to learn and study over time to accomplish all of your skills and certifications?

I am always looking to learn and grow. Studying for Atlassian Certifications has helped me in increasing my knowledge about the tools and growing in my professional career.

So from 0 Atlassian Certificates in November 2020, I became an Atlassian Certified Expert in February, 2022. Today I have all the Atlassian Certifications actively available.

People frequently connect with me to ask for help with Atlassian Tools or details about Atlassian certifications. I love being recognized as an expert in this space and getting the opportunity to connect with people and answering their queries. All of these reasons keep me motivated to learn and study.

How has being Atlassian Certified impacted your career?

Being an Atlassian Certified Expert has helped me gain more knowledge and strengthen my credibility within my team and with my customers. I am now recognized as an expert within the Atlassian ecosystem.

What advice do you have for someone considering earning their first Atlassian Certification?

Many people connect with me asking for tips and tricks to pass the certifications. The biggest tip or advice I have is Don’t look for a tip or trick to pass the certification, instead, go the long way, learn how the product can help fulfill various use cases. Enjoy the preparation phase and the learning journey. With all the knowledge within you, getting a certification will be an easy task.

I really like Deepanshu's dedication towards upskilling and sharing the knowledge within his circles.

Getting every certification is a rare thing. So many people only focus on their current role and move forward with a tunnel vision. They are missing out on many great options present in other parts of the software and not seeing ways in which departments can work together.
