How to configure statuspage with new relic to get automated component updates

Manuel May 30, 2022

Hey,

We are just trying out statuspage. I tried to configure new relic automation to report status to statuspage component according to Set up New Relic alerts parsing | Statuspage | Atlassian Support.

However status page is ignoring the emails from new relic.

New relic messages contains different format than proposed by statuspage

  • Critical priority issue is closed
  • Critical priority issue is active

I was not able to find any option to change message content on new relic side.

  • Anyhow possible to change listeners on statuspage to closed and active?
  • How can I change newrelic to send message up or down?
  •  Or is this a bug?

Best regards,

Manuel

Had the same problem, solution is to customise you email template in newrelic using this resource: https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/alerts-applied-intelligence/notifications/message-templates/#handlebars-syntax

e.g. set email Title to be:

```
{{ issueTitle }}, component is {{eq "CLOSED" status yes='UP' no='DOWN'}}
```

But its really annoying that statuspage.io announces support for NewRelic out of the box and then we have to go the extra mile for things to work.

Hi @Manuel ,

This is Darryl. I am here to help. 😃

It's awesome to know that you are trialing Statuspage!

Understand that you are trying to set up the component automation with New Relic.

However, I am not quite sure about your meaning of this paragraph:

New relic messages contains different format than proposed by statuspage

  • Critical priority issue is closed
  • Critical priority issue is active

The Email Automation for updating components is in a static pattern matching as mentioned in this article, unfortunately, it's not alterable for the patterns and we haven't received a similar issue reported from other customers so far.

If there's a change in the message content sent from New Relic, we recommend reaching out to New Relic Support Team to seek a way to change it back.

Hope this is helpful.

Kind regards,

@Darryl Lee Hi,

I am trying to set up the component automation with New Relic and facing the exact same problem of @Manuel

Regarding your question about the meaning of New Relic closed and Active email subjects

These are the only email subjects New Relic sends by default. And below you can see the email with active subject which is getting ignored by Statuspage:

Therefore I have the same questions of @Manuel in order to solve this problem.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Javad

Hi @javad_raisi ,

Thanks for the feedback.

As mentioned in the previous comment, the Email Automation for updating components is in a static pattern matching as mentioned in this article, unfortunately, it's not alterable for the patterns and we haven't received a similar issue reported from other customers so far.

If there's a change in the message content sent from New Relic or you are seeking a way to tailor the email, we recommend reaching out to New Relic Support Team to seek a way to change it back.

Hope this makes sense.

Kind regards,
