Unable to clone from Gitlab

I have generated SSH files from windows prompt as suggested in Gitlab and also through Source Tree.  In either case I can never clone a file.  When I try just cloning via a HTTPS source, I still have issues because it asks for my credentials.  Putting in my user name and password does not solve that issue.

Hi Chris! Are you still having issues cloning from Gitlab? If so, can you provide more information so we can find the root of this issue?:

1. Enumerate the steps you're taking to clone this repo
2. Is this happening with a specific file, or with any file you're trying to clone?
3. Can you send us a screenshot of the error you get?
4. Which Sourcetree version are you using?
5. For troubleshooting purposes, have you tried cloning  from the command line
