This is not a valid source path /URL

Robert Gordon July 17, 2017

Hello,

Having an issue with "this is not a valid source path / url" whn trying to clone a remote git repo to my system.

When I click on the link it says this:

Permission denied (publickey).

fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights

and the repository exists.

fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git

Permission denied (publickey).

fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

I know the repo exists so I guess this is a publickey isue. I'm fairly new to GIT so hopefully someone can shed some light on this. Thanks.

Hi Robert! We'll need more information to help you solve this issue:

  1. The repo you're trying to clone, where is it hosted (Bitbucket Server, Cloud, GitHub...)?
  2. Do you have permissions to access the repo, or is it a public repository?
  3. Have you connected that account to SourceTree already?
  4. Can you confirm if this is a Git repository, and not Mercurial?
  5. Lastly, which version of SourceTree and OS are you using?

I'd also recommend you to have a look at Set up SourceTree to make sure you've followed the right steps.

Best regards,

Ana
