Sourcetree stopped automatic refreshing when actions are taken

CerbionShirayuki January 14, 2020

So, I've been using SourceTree for a few years now and this is the first time I stumble into this issue;

I recently switched to a new PC and readded the repositories I am currently working on, everything is set and everything (technically) works.

However there's a slight problem in that whenever I execute any action (like fetching, pulling, pushing, committing, etc) the main UI does not update automatically, the toolbar on top updates and shows that there's no longer stuff to push/pull and the likes, but the main window for the history or the current commit just do not show any changes I made.

This is fixed once SourceTree is restarted or Refresh (F5) is used, but this used to happen automatically, is this some bug or a feature/setting that I have enabled by accident?

I am using the latest version of SourceTree (3.3.6.x)

It's running on Windows 10 Pro, 64 Bit

This error has not been occuring before the version/computer switch

I am kinda baffled and not sure how to fix it, thanks in advance!

I found the solution in another thread about this issue.

Reopen the tabs that UI starts working again.

Weird, but it works! Thanks for sharing this fix. It still feels like a bug and I hope someone looks into it.

It is a bug. And after restarting SourceTree, the problem returns.

A good workaround is to disable the "Re-open the repository tabs", forcing us to open them manually. I'll keep it until they fix the issue.

Yeah true, that seems to be the best course for now.

With me this happens with any action. I have to refresh the tab or sourctree app in order for any action to reflect, e.g stage unstage discard etc.

So seems Atlassian has fixed this according to this:

https://product-downloads.atlassian.com/software/sourcetree/windows/ga/ReleaseNotes_3.3.8.html

Which i found after looking for older or beta versions of sourcetree, since their naming scheme is.. let's say predictable.

However it does not seem like it's publically available, or so I thought, but indeed you can just manipulate the url of the official download link and get it:

https://product-downloads.atlassian.com/software/sourcetree/windows/ga/SourceTreeSetup-3.3.8.exe

It works but be aware that this is a likely unfinished version, the .exe itself is also not yet signed so windows defender will block it by default (which you can overrule as admin of course).

So just as a headsup: this is not an official version (yet) from Atlassian - use it at your own risk!

Please "upvote" (+1) the reported bug here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/SRCTREE-7108 by clicking as "Affected customer" in the "People" section on the right. Thanks.

Done.

Done as well, though this is for Mac, I also "upvoted" the Windows one: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/SRCTREEWIN-12705

This problem also appeared for me immediately after updating to the latest version (3.3.6).
