SourceTree never becomes responsive when opening because it uses massive amounts of RAM : Climbs to over 10 GB, drops to 7GB, climbs up again, drops to 5GB, climbs up again ...
Window is never available for more than a few seconds before becoming unresponsive again
After searching my computer for "SourceTree",
I found that a configuration file existed in many of my local git java repositories - more than 20 of them.
After uninstall, and before re-install, I deleted all of these.
After re-install, the SourceTree RAM footprint, view-able in Task Manager, was only 1.5 GB or so,
and the app is now usable again.
I would still like to understand how the RAM requirements got to be so out of control, so I can keep it under control, so I can keep using the program.
If necessary, I can do a periodic search-and-destroy of the config files, in an ignorant voodoo fashion ... .
What version of Sourcetree are you using? What OS are you on?
