We are attempting to create a branch in the OS X Sourcetree client (4.2.0 426) with the ampersand symbol (&). This is allowed in regular GIT, SourceTree for Windows and is also permitted under the git-check-ref-format guidelines, I therefore cannot see a reason why the OS X client should differ from the Windows client.
Thoughts please..
Hi @PK . Thank you for reaching out with the finding. We could reproduce the issue in Mac version of sourcetree. We will work on it and provide fix in upcoming release.
In the mean time, I would like to request you to file a bug in below link. This will help us keep a track of the issue.
