How to deploy in-place update? (1.8.2 > 2.3.5)

insideAC November 17, 2017

We currently use version 1.8.2.11

I wanted to deploy an update to version 2.3.5 but it didn't succeed with the old silent switches: "installer.exe" /qb

When I start the setup manually I get a warning that the old version should be removed..

How can I update without losing my configs?

How can i centrally deploy this, what install switches are there?

Hi! 1.x and 2.x are two major versions so you'll need to delete the old one before installing the new one. You can backup the following directories:

    • C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local and delete Sourcetree & Sourcetree-Settings folder
    • C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Atlassian and delete all Sourcetree Files/ folder.

Also, with the deploy of Sourcetree 1.8 silent installation is no longer possible, as you can see at Sourcetree silent installation.

The application will need to be installed manually in every machine, however we have a feature request for that at SRCTREEWIN-6570.

Hope that helps!

Ana
