Do I need to be running as admin in windows in-case an update comes out?

In what I thought was an upgrade the thing errored out and I had to download and install the app as admin in a new directory.

Updates to SourceTree should run in a separate process from SourceTree itself, and it should request admin permissions when it runs, if needed.

Did you close SourceTree during the update? If not, that's probably why the update failed.
