Change git username in sourcetree?

Ryan Haines September 17, 2013

I installed sourcetree, connected to my git repo, and was able to successfully clone, branch, push, etc. I then changed my git username (it wasn't very professional!) and now I can't use sourcetree at all. It asks me for the password for my old username, and I can't find a way to change that field.

EDIT: I'm using OSX

I had the same problem, and it was very difficult to find. As far as I can tell, for Mac Sourcetree, this is the ONLY way to get to these settings:

  1. Go to File -> New/Clone
  2. Next to the Filter Repositories box is a cog (see picture below). Click that and choose Settings.
  3. In the resulting popup window, you should see your old credentials and be able to update them.

Hope that helps!

if your on Windows try clearing your credentials here..

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Credential Manager

Clear them for the git server....
