Time Tracking - effects of updating hours/day

josh gold February 5, 2013

Hi,

We are interested in adjusted the hours/day in Jira, based on our developers' availability during an 8 hour day. What are the effects of changing the time? Are current sizings updated, i.e., 1d moves to 1.25 days if I go from a 6 to 8 hr day? Does it have any effect on GreenHopper sprints?

Thanks!

Hey there, Josh.

As far as I am concerned, sprints in GreenHopper should not be affected by the changes. Most of the time, the users make use of Story Points to reflect the amount of work which eventually will be displayed in the Burndown Chart.

But then again, what effects are you actually referring at? Is it the charts or are there anything particular that you are concerned of? If you change from 1d to 1.25d, as explained in the https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Configuring+Time+Tracking documentation, I think that the changes should also updated since GreenHopper is using JIRA's Time Tracking.

Warm regards,

Danial

Hi Ahmad,

Sorry for the late response! We have one project that is still using the estimated hours (and migrating to story points). I guess I was most concerned about reverting my changes in Time Tracking and having everything restored.

Thanks!
