Rename a file using Sourcetree and Mercurial?

Alex Bilstein June 25, 2012

Is there a way to rename a file in the Sourcetree UI when paired with Mercurial? I know I can do it in the command line using "hg rename", but just wondering if there is a way to do it without leaving the app.

Am I just missing it?

You can do this via right-clicking the file and selecting 'Move'. It's called 'Move' rather than 'Rename' because you can also change the location of the file while you're at it.

Steve,

What about renaming/moving an entire folder in Sourcetree when paired with Mercurial? I've only been able to do this via command line.

That worked, although it would be nice to have a "rename" option too. I would not have guessed to use "move" to rename a file...
