Migrate Confluence 4.2.11 spaces to Confluence on demand

Neranjana Karunaratne November 10, 2013

Hi

We have some old Confluence spaces that were created on Confluence 4.2.11. We would like to migrate them to Confluence on demand. I believe you can only import spaces created on v 5.3 upwards to Confluence on demand. Is there any way we could migrate our old spaces to on demand? Also we have some Jira projects on Jira 5.1.1. Can we migrate them to Jira on demand?

Thanks

NK

Confluence OnDemand can only import spaces from a locally installed Confluence if it is running a recent version. In your case this would mean you would have to upgrade your instance or upgrade a copy of your instance to the most recent version of Confluence, and from there create the space exports. Details on space imports on Confluence OnDemand can be found here, details on upgrading Confluence can be found here.

Project imports are not possible on JIRA OnDemand. Importing data from another JIRA instance into JIRA OnDemand will overwrite the existing data. In order to get your projects on your OnDemand instance, you will need to merge the data of your JIRA OnDemand and your local data first in a local installation of JIRA, after which you can create a full site backup which you restore in your JIRA OnDemand. Details on creating backups can be found here, details on restoring projects from a backup can be found here, and finally details on importing data to OnDemand can be found here.
