How does one run a specific branch plan manually?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Running a plan build manually

If my plan has a set of branches (i.e. branch plans), can a manual run be executed against one of the branches?

Yes. You can go to the Plan > Branches. Click on the branch and then "Run" branch.

That didn't work.  I'm afraid the bamboo configuration is so complex that something this simple can fail if the wrong checkbox is set/unset.

This actually woks as expected, but my child plans are not being triggers, but that's another question, thanks.

I also want this manual run to trigger child plans, which isn't happening.
