Does the Confluence Server ID change when you upgrade or reinstall Confluence?

John Pedro August 19, 2012

Our organisation is in the process of renewing its license for Confluence as well as upgrading to version 4.2.

We have just purchased the Arsenale Lockpoint macro. As part of its licensing process Arsenale is asking for our Confluence Server ID.

Since we are about to upgrade, we are unsure as to whether the Server ID will change upon upgrade / reinstallation from scratch.

Can you please clarify whether this would be the case?

Many thanks for your help.

Hi John,

According to our FAQ on the Server ID in Confluence, the Server ID won't change when you perform an upgrade or if you reinstall your data. However, it will change when you initially reinstall but once you import your data the Server ID should be reverted back to the one which the data was being restored from: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/Server+ID+FAQ

All the best,
John
