Currently there is not nice and clean solution for that. We used some workarounds but these were unstable and prone to get broken.
We raised a feature request at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-37129 so please do not forget to vote it and to comment on it, explaining Atlassian how important is to add the minimal level of functionality for working with templates via REST.
Confluence REST API is in deep development yet. Please see the https://docs.atlassian.com/atlassian-confluence/REST/latest/#d3e120 for the list of possibilities. And as I see from the https://docs.atlassian.com/atlassian-confluence/latest/com/atlassian/confluence/api/service/content/ContentService.html and https://docs.atlassian.com/atlassian-confluence/latest/com/atlassian/confluence/api/model/content/Content.html - there are no hidden variables that could help with POST query (the only one is the metadata). If you need such kind of REST service - you can write / order your own that will extend needed functionality.
As for the other possibilities - please see https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/58952/page-from-template-using-xml-rpc-or-soap-api for the details
And as I see https://docs.atlassian.com/atlassian-confluence/latest/index.html?com/atlassian/confluence/rpc/soap/ConfluenceSoapService.html - there are no specific methods to work with templates.

We use it on daily basis for standups, retrospectives and other recurrent meetings. It really helps us to keep notes and follow regular processes.
Any feedback appreciated.
Over the next several weeks we'll be sharing some of our Getting Started guides here in the community. Throughout this series of posts, we'd love to hear from customers and non-customers ab...
