collapsible table-of-contents?

For TOC, I am using children display. However, the tree of the TOC is getting large. 

Is there a collapsible TOC component I can use instead?

Why not just wrap the macro in the Expand macro?

@Jeff Tanner, I think what you're looking for is the 'Page Tree' macro. You can set the root page to @self and check "Show Expand/Collapse Links". Lots more options than the children display.
