Version control on Office Docs

Steve Smith June 29, 2018

Hi

Fairly new to Confluence and have a question on what happens if two people have the same Office doc open when they come to save the document.

We have a Backlog doc and it is always opened by clicking on the Edit in Office button. If it is opened by two people at the same time and changes made when the first person saves their version then that is saved as normal but what happens when the second person saves? Are the first person's changes overwritten or does Confluence merge the changes into the current saved document?

I have looked through the documentation and searched for an answer in the forums but can't see anything specific about this. Please can anyone help?

Thanks

Steve
