Hey Atlassian Community!
I hope you're all doing well. I'm reaching out with a question about Opsgenie configuration, specifically related to Slack integration.
We've been utilizing Opsgenie to manage incidents effectively, and it has been working seamlessly during regular business hours. However, we've noticed a gap in our coverage during the weekends when our agents are not available.
To address this, we're exploring the possibility of configuring Opsgenie to trigger calls when a new message is sent in a particular Slack channel. This is crucial for us because sometimes incidents are communicated through Slack, and we want to ensure a timely response even on weekends.
If anyone has experience with a similar setup or has insights into how we can achieve this, your guidance would be highly appreciated.
We want to optimize our incident response process and make sure we're not missing any critical notifications.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions!
Unfortunately the native Slack integration only allows sending messages to Slack Channels or creating alerts through the "/genie" slash command.
Opsgenie is not able to "monitor" your Slack Channels and create an alert when a message is sent.
I would encourage the below approach:
If you want a more "automated" approach, you would need to create outgoing webhooks in Slack and then make it call Opsgenie APIs.
Please remember to accept this answer in case it helps you resolve your question as it may also help other community members in the future.
Regards,
Eugenio
Hi Eugenio,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question.
I believe that having the Opsgenie app in Slack could assist us in achieving our goal, particularly if we can create an alert directly from the Opsgenie app within Slack.
Do you have any documentation on how to do this?
Thanks again
