Hi,
I would like to create a monhtly patching schedule.
Every 3rd week saturday of the month, will require 1 person in the rotation to patch our UAT servers
Then every 4th week saturday of the month, will require the next person in the rotation to patch our Prod servers.
I have attempted to create this within Opsgenie, and it is not very nice, nor can it account for the 3rd saturday of every month etc.
Would appreciate some assistance.
Thanks,
Hi @John Vu ,
You're right, there is no easy way to do this because Opsgenie can only count constant time periods like days and weeks, but months have a varying number of days and weeks which is why there is no option for a monthly schedule. Right now, Opsgenie is not able to keep 'date-based' rotations but we do have a feature request in for this, which you can follow and upvote here:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/OPSGENIE-462
The workaround would be to create a rotation for each month using the 'weekly' option, where the first 2 weeks 'No-one' is on call and weeks 3 and 4 your users are on call. You will need to restrict the schedule to your on call times on Saturday and set start and end dates for the rotation to align with the months. Here is what it would look like:
