1:1 or 1:n Integration?

Ersin Eromay May 11, 2021

We're having a discussion with a customer.
It's about the integration of AWS, Promotheus and co.

The customer has several Promotheus systems.

Does the customer on the OpsGenie side only need one integration for all Promotheus systems or does he need several OpsGenie integrations?
Can the same API key provided by OpsGenie be used for all Promotheus systems?
So is only a 1:1 relationship possible or also a 1:n relationship?

In my opinion a 1: n is possible. Unfortunately, the customer sees it differently.

If a 1: n relationship is possible, are there disadvantages?

Would you prefer a separate integration for each Prometheus?

Hi @Ersin Eromay ,

It would be possible to use the same API key for a Prometheus / Alert Manager setup, but realistically it might make sense to use a separate integration / API key for both.

Going this route would help more with troubleshooting purposes. You'd have a better idea which Alert Manager setup is triggering Opsgenie - vs. all that would be pointing to the same API key / integration.

Hope that makes sense, but let us know if you have any additional questions.
