Opsgenie and Amazon team up to launch new DevOps Guru integration - now available!

We’re proud to announce that our integration with Amazon DevOps Guru is now live.

The Amazon and Opsgenie product teams have worked together to build a deep integration between Opsgenie and the new Amazon DevOps Guru tool, which was announced today at the AWS ReInvent conference.

This integration builds upon the deep library of Amazon integrations Opsgenie supports and is the next step in our continued focus to empower teams to deploy code and operate services with confidence.

What is Amazon DevOps Guru?

As the growth in microservices soars, the number of services that contribute to delivering applications has also increased, which in turn increases the sheer number of alerts and messages on-call teams must contend with.

Amazon DevOps Guru uses machine learning to quickly identify when applications are behaving outside of their normal operating patterns, and may even predict these anomalous behaviors before they become a major issue.

The Opsgenie integration

The integration with Opsgenie captures these insights and then routes them to the right people and teams based upon on-call schedules, routing rules, and escalation policies, ensuring critical alerts are never missed.

  • When an insight is generated in DevOps Guru, an alert is created and routed automatically in Opsgenie with a priority based on the type and severity of the insight.

  • When an insight is resolved in DevOps Guru, the related alert in Opsgenie is closed automatically.

  • When an anomaly is added to an insight in DevOps Guru, it is also appended to the existing Opsgenie alert as a note.

In Opsgenie you can map the Insight type to a severity and priority level to inform the routing of alerts and to ensure critical alerts are never missed.

Amazon DevOps Guru Metrics

The insights page in DevOps Guru provides metrics that can be used to further investigate and highlight the change in behavior in any application that is being tracked. Here’s an example of a spike in errors for a Lambda function.
