Introducing Atlassian's IT Asset and Service Configuration Management Handbook

The ITSM team at Atlassian is very excited to announce our new IT Asset and Service Configuration Management Handbook for Jira Service Management.

The new handbook provides the basics of IT asset and service configuration management practices, describes the structures of Assets in Jira Service Management, walks you step-by-step through a solution for a common ITSM use case, and provides a high-level checklist to implement your own IT asset and service configuration management strategy. Consider this handbook as a roadmap for your Assets journey.

When will we finally have feature parity compared to Data Center? This is still a blocking issue for many of our Server/DC clients who would like or who would need to migrate to Cloud.

The material in the IT Asset and Service Configuration Management Handbook is applicable to both Assets - Assets in Jira Service Management Data Center and Assets in Jira Service Management Cloud Premium or Enterprise. 

A table on page 46 outlines the feature differences; for example, object schema templates are available only for Assets in Jira Service Management Data Center.  I hope this info is helpful. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Currently, schedule specifics for new Assets in Jira Service Management Cloud capabilities are not available. 

We understand reporting and import options are important functionality for Jira Service Management customers.

We are exploring the expansion of import integrations and migration solutions between Data Center and Cloud products and hope to share more info at Teams '23 in April. 

Reporting capabilities are available via Atlassian Analytics (Enterprise only) or through integration with analytics tool available from Atlassian Marketplace.
