Structure - Move issues manually within a generator

Edited

Hello!

I'm hoping to get some help with the structures add on, which I'm fairly new to.

The use case is this:

We create epics with the template add on, and then view the epic and everything within it in structures. I'm hoping to use a generator to add epics in a specific project to a structure automatically.

What I'm wondering is - once we've created a generator that automatically includes an epic and all issues etc. into a structure, is there a way to manually sort/move the issues? (sometimes we'll add an additional issue to the epic and will need it to be in a specific place in the structure view) I saw another post that said to click the "Allow changes via Structure" box, but I'm not seeing an option for that. (Link) When I try to move things at the moment I get this notification:

Also open to another solution if there's some way to set up a query that allows us to sort specific items into specific locations (E.G. We have four Content Drops and need to create a fifth, but the order is determined by when the tickets were created so the fifth drop isn't next to the others in structure view).

Thanks!

Hello @RFL ,

Welcome to the Community!  I apologize for the delayed response here.

What you will want to do is add a Sort Generator.  Specifically, you will want to use Sort by Rank.  This will use the Rank that Jira uses to organize issues on a board.  Keep in mind that changing the rank in Structure will also change it's position on the board and vice versa.

Please let me know if this helps!

Best,
David
